The DouTua wine comes from a place where the landscape is shaped by the meeting of the Douro and Tua rivers. I consider this wine unique due to the perfect combination of the location’s beauty, the intensity of the heat, and the qualities of the soil.
Vineyard
Single vineyard approximately 40 years old. Low-yielding and composed exclusively of native Douro grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz.
Winemaking
The grapes underwent the traditional process of foot treading in granite lagares during the first 24 hours of phenolic extraction, followed by fermentation in temperature- and atmosphere-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Maturing
Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in used 500 L French Allier oak barrels for 18 months.
Bottling
Bottled on March 9, 2022: 4,157 bottles of 750 ml and 10 bottles of 3,000 ml.
Tasting Notes
Deep purple-red colour. Aromas of ripe red fruit combined with hints of spicy toast. Harmonious and seductive, with lively character and ripe, well-polished tannins. Excellent balance between freshness and complexity, offering immediate pleasure and good aging potential.
Serving suggestion: between 16°C and 18°C, with prior decanting.
