Costureiro 2018

The search for the best cuts and shapes gives rise to the reinvented “Costureiro”. Its genesis lies in the attempt to find the perfect combination between all its elegantly intertwined lines, notes and aromas, seeking a delicate superior harmony. This is how the “Costureiro” is made, how a superior wine is woven and a story is told that lingers in the memory, as in the senses.

Vineyard

Single vineyard, approximately 45 years old. Low production, and only with native Douro grape varieties, namely Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz.

Winemaking

The grapes were subjected to the traditional process of treading in a wine press during the first 24 hours of phenolic extraction, and were subsequently vinified in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature and environment.

Maturation

Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats, then transferred to new 500-litre French oak barrels where it remained for 20 months.

Bottling

On December 21, 2020, 1714 750 ml bottles, 80 1500 ml bottles and 10 3000 ml bottles were bottled.

Tasting Notes

Intense and concentrated ruby color. Extremely perfumed, with a concentrated aroma of wild berries, forest, with elegant notes of mocha and coffee. Firm but smooth tannins, long and persistent finish.

A promising wine with great longevity, due to the excellent balance between complexity and elegance. For the cellar…

Immediately enjoyable , it pairs well with cured cheeses, sausages, intense red meat dishes and game.

Serving suggestion: between 16ºC and 18ºC, with prior decantation.
