Born from the search for the finest cuts and compositions, “Costureiro” is reinvented. At its core lies the pursuit of the perfect balance between all its lines, notes and aromas, elegantly interwoven to create a superior and delicate harmony. This is how “Costureiro” is crafted — a refined wine that tells a story which lingers in the memory as it does on the senses.
— Jorge Guimarães
Vineyard
Single vineyard, approximately 40 years old. Low-yielding and composed solely of native Douro grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz.
Winemaking
The grapes underwent traditional foot treading in lagares during the first 24 hours of phenolic extraction, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature and environment.
Maturing
Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in new 500 L French oak barrels for 18 months.
Bottling
On August 2, 2018, a total of 3,142 bottles (750 ml), 336 magnums (1,500 ml), and 20 jeroboams (3,000 ml) were bottled.
Tasting Notes
Intense and concentrated ruby colour. Highly perfumed, with concentrated aromas of wild berries and forest, alongside elegant notes of mocha and coffee. Firm yet smooth tannins, finishing long and persistent.
A promising wine with great aging potential, thanks to its excellent balance between complexity and elegance. One for the cellar…
Immediately pleasurable, it pairs beautifully with cured cheeses, charcuterie, rich red meats, and game dishes.
Serving suggestion: between 16ºC and 18ºC, with prior decanting.
